"Why Jade McTavish Might Be My New Favorite Fictional Woman"

Let me tell you about a book that completely caught me off guard in the best way The Making of Jade McTavish by D. M. McGowan.
I was expecting a classic western-style story with dust, drama, and maybe a few rugged characters. What I got was all that, plus one of the most compelling female leads I’ve read in a long time.
Jade is smart. She’s sharp. She’s also tangled in a world that was not built for women to speak up, let alone lead. But she does it anyway. Her story takes place in early Canada, where politics and power are just starting to stir, and Jade finds herself smack in the middle of it all ,whether she wants to or not.
What I loved most? She’s not a flawless heroine. She makes mistakes, speaks out of turn, and asks hard questions. But that just makes her feel real. I found myself cheering for her, cringing with her, and just fully rooting for her all the way through.
If you like books with strong characters, a bit of scandal, and just enough history to ground you in a real time and place, give this one a try. McGowan writes with heart, and you can feel how much he respects the story he’s telling.
Final Thought:
Jade McTavish is the kind of character who sticks with you. She’s complicated, fiery, and unforgettable, just the way I like my fiction.
